3/14/2007 11:27:47 PM
I have modified the server to allow LAN as well as Internet games. When it is ready for beta testing, I will post it in the downloads along with the client.
3/14/2007 11:27:02 PM
I have come up with a way to add the single-player game back into the system via bot clients that connect to the server (they must be run on the same machine as the server)
3/14/2007 11:25:11 PM
I will try to post at least one news item a week so that everyone knows I am STILL working on the server.
2/6/2007 5:39:26 AM
Got a few emails asking what's up. SCS is NOT dead just domant. I am currently working on the game server still...
11/8/2006 4:04:57 PM
Working on the Chat Server right now. Hoping to get it up and running bug free by the middle of this month.

My haitus is over. I am actively working on the system again. :)
7/10/2006 2:32:27 PM
Our forum provider is no loner online. I don't really have time to program one myself right now...so if anyone as a suggestion, please email me.
7/8/2006 3:55:01 PM
I took a two week break from game development due to other obligations (work and family) but now i am back. I am working on adding the game states (such as allocation, placement, or movement) into the client.
6/20/2006 3:20:38 PM
Working at a steady pace. The system is coming together nicely. This is just a little update. Check out the new screen shots here.
6/12/2006 11:31:24 AM
I spent some time last night updating the look and feel of the website. I hope you like it. It is best viewed if you download the font (or download the SCS Core System and it will install the font.

6/8/2006 9:16:40 PM
The latest version is online. You can download it here, or if you already have a version with the SCS_Updater.exe, just CHECK FOR UPDATES, and you'll get all the latest files.
6/6/2006 11:40:53 PM
Still on a roll! Got the updater completed and tested. It can be downloaded here. Starting on next iteration...
6/4/2006 12:07:35 AM
Since I am on a roll, I have started iteration 2.0.0.1. Check out what will be going on here.
6/3/2006 10:28:27 PM
I am updating the website, so you will probably experience issues, please bear with me. On a good note, the iteration is done (5 full days ahead of schedule)
6/3/2006 9:55:35 PM
I have updated the development section. All new development will have development notes attached. I will probably remove the burndown charts.
5/23/2006 3:09:11 PM
Today I played around with a new interface, and I want some feedback. Please download the GUI.ZIP from here and post a message to the forums or email me with your feelings. -MMalo
5/23/2006 3:07:34 PM
I have been trying to work out the user interfaces for starting and playing the games. It has been very difficult with the current way the client is arranged. I think it looks trashy and is hard to manage components.
4/11/2006 9:24:54 AM
I have added a new link to a very cool Star Trek Starship Combat Simulator game...maybe keep you occupied until this one is done. :)
3/22/2006 8:51:21 PM
I am going to release a version on Friday, but it probably will not be as playable as it could have been if I had not had to go away. There will be a gameboard test, players will not controla ship this time tho.
3/22/2006 8:50:10 PM
As you can tell by the fact that I haven't updated in over 10 days, I haven't had much time to work on the game. I had to take an unexpected trip for work and just got back. :(
3/9/2006 4:42:35 PM
I am continuing to update the ship list and now you can get a closer look at each vessel.
3/7/2006 10:06:15 PM
I am starting to implement the code that deals with the ships, so I have started to fix up the Ship List.
3/6/2006 7:50:09 PM
I have pushed the release date of v7 back since I had changed the UI drastically and have made such great strides in the gameboard. I figured that everyone would appreciate additional functionality since 007 was not going to have much that could be seen
3/1/2006 8:47:10 PM
WOW! I just HAD to post this...I have just made a major break-through with C# and GDI+. So much so that I can recreate the awesome gameboard that I made in C++ into C#!!!
2/28/2006 11:21:50 AM
I have uploaded the next client. You can get it Here.
2/28/2006 9:01:13 AM
Ok, I know I missed the last iteration release date, but I got sucked into an emergency situation at work and was unable to do anything else but that. I ended up being at work (with 2 other engineers) until 11pm...

I have uploaded the User's Documentation, or rather what there is of it.

The SCS Client v1.0.0.5 Beta is available from the downloads section.
2/21/2006 3:19:36 PM
It would be nice if someone would build an installer for this that does not require the Windows Installer sytem. I don't have the time to do it right now...but if no one steps up that I quess I will have to.
2/20/2006 9:07:45 AM
I have stared a forum at SCS Forum please join it and use it.
2/19/2006 8:58:25 PM
V1.0.0.4 Beta is online and available for download. Please see the help.txt file if you have any issues.
2/19/2006 12:54:09 PM
I just discovered that the Window's Installer does not do what it says it does. Mainly that it replaces the old version with the new one. So if you don't uninstall the old version, you get an error when you try to run it.
2/17/2006 7:29:46 PM
Due to errors that some of you were experiencing, I have released the next versioin with more error handlers right now.
2/17/2006 2:05:22 PM

2/15/2006 9:55:07 AM

2/10/2006 7:27:00 AM
The SCS Client is now globalized, meaning that it can handle ANY language. Andre is going to be working on German, but we need more (Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, etc...Klingon would be cool too).
2/10/2006 7:08:26 AM
I have worked my rear-end off and have finished 3 parts of the system: WebServer, LobbyServer, and Chat System. I will put some additional info about this on the About Page.

We have changed some of the fules and will get the user documentation updated asap. The BIG one is that you must be online to participate in a game. The game files are no longer available for download due to security and cheating.
2/1/2006 10:08:02 AM
I will begin sending notifications to users, if you do not want to receive these, please modify your account.
2/1/2006 10:07:10 AM

New affiliations added. More ships and updates to current ships coming soon. Sean has been working overtime to get the statistics right!
10/3/2005 10:58:52 AM
I think I have worked out the cheating issue, at least in theory. I think I will let the community police the cheaters themselves.
10/3/2005 10:58:20 AM
I have started a blog about the development process. You can find it here: The Tao Of Coding.
9/27/2005 8:24:31 AM

9/22/2005 10:59:38 AM
We have 3 members who are going to help: Steven, Joseph, and Clint. Things are looking up. I am putting the finishing touches on the Ship Editor that Clint will use to get the ships into the game!
9/8/2005 8:12:22 AM
Game System is currently OFFLINE. I will be making a slight update to the website and I will email everyone when the system is back online.
7/21/2005 10:23:00 AM
Horror! I had some harddrive controller issue and have lost all the code to the system! I tried to restore from a backup...but they are all corrupt as well! IMFG!
4/28/2005 2:38:19 PM
Adding more content to the website. I have thought of another game type (assimilation) and it will be implemented during some Beta test phase. In the meantime, check out the rules page and tell me what's mispelled or what's missing. - MMalo
4/28/2005 2:35:50 PM
Well i underestimated the amount of data that needs to be entered into the system. So I am regretfully pusing the release date back again. I am going to say July this time, so maybe if I get it online in June everyone will be excited. - MMalo
4/15/2005 4:25:33 PM

4/4/2005 2:09:28 PM
More set-backs. The system did not start the test game as expected...there was a slight bug in the server code. Its fixed now...I am going to reset the beta game to see if it will launch it.
3/17/2005 7:17:27 PM
I have signed up with MyStarship.com for banner exchange in order to draw more people that might want to help with the game. I am trying to finalize the client so that we can play soon. - MMalo
3/7/2005 9:59:32 AM
I have posted the readme file for the gameboard test. It is included in the source package as well, but i wanted to post it separately so that if anyone wants to take a look at it and has an idea how to implement this in C#...they can help. Thanks, Malo
3/7/2005 9:58:29 AM
I have posted the source code for my gameboard test that uses DirectX. It SUCKS. If anyone knows Managed DirectX, or DirectX well enough to translate it or rewrite it, please download this code and help. Thanks, Malo
2/25/2005 3:41:01 PM
I have started to work on the system again. Unfortunately this means that the first playable game date has been changed again. Hang in there...it's coming.
1/28/2005 6:58:41 AM
Well the bad news keeps coming. I haven't had a chance to work on the game due to personal reasons. I hope to get some closure on these issues next week, so then maybe I can get back to work on the game.
1/11/2005 11:09:34 AM
The first game has been pushed back to the first of Feburary, due to personal issue. I will get the client up before the end of January. - Malo
